PGP Corporation expands its reach within the U.S. federal
government through partnership with Ingram Micro
Palo Alto, CA/15 January, 2004 – PGP Corporation, the recognized leader in secure messaging and information storage, today announced it has become a GSA Partner with Ingram Micro, Inc. (NYSE: IM), a leading IT sales, marketing, and logistics company. This partnership, which allows Ingram Micro's government resellers to add PGP® products to their existing GSA schedules, will simplify the purchase of PGP secure-messaging and storage solutions by government agencies.
"Working with our partner, Ingram Micro, has enabled us to easily add a GSA buying vehicle for our government customers," said Spencer Snedecor, Vice President, Government Sales and Operations, for PGP Corporation. "Our goal is to meet the unique requirements of government customers by providing PGP Desktop and PGP Universal products and services simply and quickly through Ingram Micro's programs and extensive network of qualified resellers."
Ingram Micro's GSA Support Services facilitates the interface between manufacturers and resellers, including the provision of manufacturers' letters of supply, certifications, and GSA pricing. Qualified Ingram Micro resellers can rapidly add new manufacturers such as PGP Corporation to their respective GSA Schedule Contracts, making new products and services available to all purchasing entities within the U.S. government, executive agencies, mixed-ownership government corporations, and the District of Columbia.
"Over the last two years, there has been a tremendous shift in emphasis in all government agencies to looking at Homeland Security issues and solutions. PGP Corporation's secure-messaging and information-storage solutions fit into many of those requirements," said Bob Laclede, Vice President and General Manager of Government and Education Sales for Ingram Micro. "Their focus on government business really positions them well for the next several years."
PGP Corporation has been providing secure-messaging products to the U.S. federal government and numerous government agencies for many years. With its new Ingram Micro partnership, the Company will expand the number of qualified partners servicing these agencies in addition to the existing PGP sales force. Providing new products and services via GSA Schedule Contracts adds simplified volume purchasing, expedited delivery, and easy payment options to the many advantages for purchasers in the GSA program.
In addition, PGP Corporation's email encryption
technology is one of only two approved email-related encryption
standards selected by the National Institute of Standards and
Technology (NIST) under NIST's
